Getting Around

PARKING: The only parking is on the nearby streets.

METRORAIL STOP:  Take metro to the Smithsonian stop on the Blue line then walk west on Jefferson to the Mall.  Cross 17th St then walk along the Reflecting Pool and the Memorial will be on your left.

SHUTTLE BUS:  The Old Town Trolley is a great way to get from one monument to the next.  As you tour the nation’s capital you will have the opportunity to get off the trolley and visit memorials, museums, and historical points of interest; as well as opportunities for shopping and dining throughout the city.  Trolleys will come by each stop at least every 30 minutes.  Your boarding Pass is your ticket to rejoin the tour at any designated stop.

Visit the Korean War Veterans Memorial

The larger than life-size statues depict nineteen infantrymen slogging uphill on a cold and dreary winter day in Korea. Sculpted by Frank Gaylord, the statues represent many ethnic origins and their uniforms reflect all the branches of services that fought in the Korean War. There is a 164 ft. long black granite wall with the faces of thousands of soldiers etched into it, and there is a strong feeling of being watched by ghosts as you walk by.  Along with the Vietnam Memorial nearby, this is a powerful memorial to visit.

Visit the official web site for the Korean War Veterans Memorial.
