Visitors to the annual Smithsonian Craft Show can view and purchase exemplary work from contemporary artisans who tell the American story through the art of craft. This four-day exhibition held in late April features 120 exhibitors selected for their innovation, creativity and technical merit in one of 12 categories: basketry, ceramics, decorative fiber, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, paper, wearable art and wood.
Various special events are held in conjunction with the Smithsonian Craft Show, including a preview benefit night with cocktail buffet, music and first choice shopping, a reception for young professionals, lectures and demonstrations.
The Smithsonian Craft Show is normally located in the National Building Museum. For Spring 2021, the craft show will be an online marketplace.
The 2021 Spring Smithsonian Craft Show, titled Craft Optimism, will be held on April 24 – May 1, 2021.
