Smithsonian Statement on the Government Shutdown (Updated)

January 26, 2019 by The District Leave a Comment

Smithsonian Castle on the National Mall in Washington, DC

The following is a news release from the Smithsonian:

UPDATED 1/25/19:

Smithsonian museums and the National Zoo will reopen at their regularly scheduled times Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019 (Note the Renwick Gallery will reopen Feb. 2.) A complete list of hours can be found on the Smithsonian’s website.

————————–

1/2/19:

“Due to the federal government shutdown, all Smithsonian museums and the National Zoo are closed.

The National Zoo live-animal cameras, including the panda cam, are not broadcasting. All the animals will continue to be fed and cared for at the National Zoo. A shutdown will not affect the Zoo’s commitment to the safety of staff and the standard of excellence in animal care.

For the status of Smithsonian Associates events, please check  smithsonianassociates.org.

This announcement will be updated as needed.”
